A Real Colorado Wedding Fairytale

I am happy to share  one of last summer’s magical weddings, that I also call the fairtale wedding, that Stephanie and Jonah had in Estes Park, Colorado. Their wedding venue was the beautiful Della Terra Mountain Chateau, a beautiful and luxurious inn set into the mountain side, offering gorgeous views, romantic walkways, and fantastic reception hall.

Stephanie and Jonah are an amazing couple. They planned their wedding whilst graduating from Colorado University of Boulder and preparing for their entrance into medical school (yes both of them!). That means they’re not only each other’s best friend and lover,  but they’re each other’s cheerleader and encourager to keep going to achieve all that they dream of as individuals and as a couple.

There are so many moments from this wedding day that I found myself pinching myself. Everything you could have dreamed to go right on a wedding day happened for these two. I’m so excited to showcase their fun wedding ideas (which should absolutely be borrowed if you’re inspired), and share the story of their magical wedding day.

There’s always so much energy and buzzing during the getting ready portion of the afternoon, but as they two saw each other for the first time on their wedding day, it was so quiet I swear you could almost hear their hearts beating. When they finally saw one another there was nothing but the biggest smiles ever. It was perfect.

Next, these two were excited because they were able to go have a moment with the homing doves that they’d soon release together during their wedding ceremony.

As guests began to arrive these two went separate ways to prepare themselves for the ceremony. Rain began to fall down, and while everyone waited under umbrellas for it to pass, we were joined by gorgeous Elk. Only in Colorado, right? I’ll never forget the moment I noticed them standing in the field beside the ceremony site. This beautiful elk was standing right behind the special seat reserved in honor of their loved ones who have passed away. I couldn’t help but feel it was a sign from God, of the presense of these loved ones who were there in spirit.

Soon Stephanie and her father arrived in a horse drawn carriage, and immediately tears began flowing. One thing that was said during their ceremony that’s always stuck with me is “a woman enters into a marriage expecting the man to change, and a man enters into marriage thinking the woman will always stay the same.” I’ll always remember that and the offer to accomodate one another throughout the years.

It was a beautiful outdoor mountain ceremony! One of the most incredible first kisses I’ve ever photographed too, as 20 beautiful white doves were released! Everyone gasped in awe, and after their kiss the two were able to watch the doves fly through the meadow.

The carriage drove to the two back to the Chateaux for their reception, which was a giant party which included a photo booth they made themselves, cakepops for dessert, and two different choreographed dances to show off their amazing partnership on the dance floor. They entered their reception surprising guests with their first dance, one of the most romantic waltz’s to All Of Me by John Legend. Then later, Stephanie changed from her wedding dress into an amazing white dance costume (perfect for the dancer bride), perfthe groom removed his suit jacket and the two performed a sexy latin dance for their guests before inviting them to join in to open the dance floor. They danced the night away.

Thanks for making it all the way through ’til the end of this real colorado wedding blog! This Estes wedding was full of such amazing people, moments, and now  wonderful memories.
