I first met Brittney and Paul at a Starbucks 1 year ago. We were strangers, and we had no idea what this partnership would look like. I think they felt a little nervous at first because they had this idea for a non-traditional 2 part wedding, and wanted to know if I was going to be on board with capturing it for them. As they unfolded their vision, a small intimate mountain wedding in a destination location like Crested Butte followed by a fun tent reception a few days later, I fell in love with it! It was perfect! I knew I absolutely had to photograph it for them if they would have me, and they totally agreed we were a great match for each other.
As October neared the corner I was so excited. This year has been full of incredible weddings, but this was the one I had been envisioning for a year and one of the first ones I had booked for this season. I had never just gone onto an unknown mountain road to photograph a wedding! They found the absolute perfect venue to host their family and friends at. Chair Mountain Ranch in Carbondale, Colorado- just a small drive away from their ceremony destination at Lizard Lake in Marble, Colorado!
As I pulled into the ranch it was just perfection. Fall colors all over the surrounding mountain ranges! A beautiful red house hosting the bride and groom. Everyone was buzzing with excitement, and the love for Brittney and Paul was evident as their team supported them and got them ready for their wedding day. As we pulled into their ceremony location, we all melted in the beauty. Right on this little lake was the perfect little trail, and it already been set up with romantic mason jars stuffed with lavender and candles which lit the way down the little trail that turned into the perfect aisle. It began to sprinkle as the bridal party made their way down, but it really began raining as Brittney Dad was giving her away. The entire ceremony it rained while Brittney and Paul married one another, and everyone huddled together under umbrellas as time stood still.
Afterward I had the pleasure of just spending time with this blissfully married couple as we found all these amazing locations we had to stop and take photos at! What an absolute dream for a photographer. It was only a few days later that they were back in the Front Range with all their extended family and friends as they gathered under a big white tent and celebrated. You couldn’t have asked for a different day as the sun was so bright in the sky and as the night went on the lights turned on all over the garden and the sky painted the most beautiful picture for us as the sun went down.
This entire wedding is one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had. From the amazing Steak dinner we shared with them in the cabins at Chair Mountain Ranch, to them cutting their first piece of pie as a married couple outside on a stack of hay- it was just wonderful. Brittney is a girl of my own heart! She is smart, beautiful, and easy-going. Paul is the kindest spirit and has a great sense of humor. She and Paul are perfect for each other, and they are both so down to earth! They love their dogs, they love their life, their families and friends, but most of all they love each other! They wanted that captured and highlighted, and I think you’ll see that’s exactly what we did! I hope you love these images as much as I do, and I hope you feel like you feel a little piece of the magic that was created just for these two!!
Congratulations Brittney and Paul on your beautiful Colorado wedding. Thank you for letting me share a part in it.
