2017 has already come and gone! How did that happen? Seriously! On January 1, 2017 I sat down with a dream that by the end of the year I would be able to be a fully self-employed wedding photography. Until then I had been working full-time in addition to running Felicia Marti Photography. Unbeknownst to me at that time, it would be the beginning of April when that dream came true.
Now I sit here 8 months later, and I truly feel like I had to re-start everything I thought I knew, go back to the beginning, start from scratch all over again! There were brand new challenges, and so much to learn because everything changes when you make that leap!
The new came. New schedule, new logo, new website, a new wedding season before me with new couples, new schedule, a new beginning and in many ways, a new me!
Every year I expect more from myself, and this year I recommitted myself to how I can photographing in my couples further. I dedicated myself to new posing, tons more in-between moments, pressing myself with my detail shots, and taking the planning with my couples before a wedding to a new level.
It’s such a joy to look through this giant collection of photographs, and feel, know, and see the new level of photographer that I’ve become!
I have so many favorite moments! So many you’ve seen over the year through Instagram through the sneak peeks that are shared right after an engagement session or wedding. It’s funny how often I know exactly what that photograph will be my favorite when I’m taking it in real life.
So now, I want to share more. As we look back over the year, I tried to pick new images, or go back to those that made my heart stop as I looked through everything again. I’ve got 1 or 2 from each and every engagement session and wedding that 2017 held.
To be a wedding photographer is a gift. I always share with pride when talking to others about what I do, because to be alone with a person who is about to get married, or alone with a couple who have just gotten married…. it’s the most special, indescribable, coolest, powerful, intimate moment to be able to witness and to capture.
I’m so thankful for the couples who’ve let me share those moments with them, and I’m thankful that through their experiences, and feedback I continue to get better and better each and every year.
